The 20th anniversary international animation festival “Big Cartoon Festival” (BCF) will be held in Moscow from October 23 to November 2, 2026. The online version of the festival will be available from November 6 to November 15 across Russia. As part of the BCF, numerous screenings, meetings with authors, lectures, and master classes will take place. From November 4 to 8, a large‑scale “Cartoon Factory” will open at the Palace of Pioneers on Sparrow Hills for everyone who wants to try their hand at animation
Our online cinema will give animation lovers from anywhere in Russia the opportunity to join the festival. Viewers will be able to take part in online meetings with renowned animation
directors and artists.
In the workshops of the Factory, from morning till evening, directors, artists, and screenwriters will hold masterclasses for children and adults in various animation techniques: plasticine, sand, cutout and stop‑motion.
MOREEvery year, the Moscow BFM features over 400 animated films from around the world. The festival program includes screenings of feature‑length films, themed programs of short animation for adults and children, meetings with leading artists and directors, and masterclasses in various animation techniques.
One of the most beloved and eagerly awaited charitable programs among young viewers, it takes place every year in cinemas, cultural centers, and libraries across Moscow. The program features the best Russian animated films for children from the past few years.
The festival will feature a series of events dedicated to the animation industry. The business program will take place on International Animation Day, October 28, at the AKI Lab venue (Bolshaya Nikitskaya St., 17, bldg. 2). Four panel discussions will focus on current topics in animation.
The co‑organizers of the program are the Russian Animated Film Association and the Soyuzmultfilm film studio.
The BFM is a competitive festival. Each year, from March to June, we receive over a thousand animated films from around the world for the competition programs. You can view the list of films selected for BFM 2025 here.
The award ceremony and the presentation of the Animasha prize statuette at the 20th Big Festival of Animated Films will take place on November 2, 2026, at the Ilyuzion Cinema.
